Bilingual Social Media Assistant (PT)

From Vancouver to St. John’s, we maintain a diverse portfolio consisting of commercial, industrial, retail, recreational, educational and food manufacturing facilities. Making our mark on the West Coast, GDI is seeking a part-time (20-30 hours per week) Bilingual Social Media Assistant to join our fast-paced office in Calgary, Alberta. This position will report directly to the Marketing, Communications, and Social Media Coordinator.

The candidate in this role will help our close-knit national marketing team based in (Calgary, Alberta) tocraft bilingual content for, manage, and analyze GDI’s corporate social media accounts including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and assist the team with time-sensitive French translations.
We’re looking for someone who is communicative, collaborative, creative and has an innovative approach to solving problems and creating workflows.
Below is an overview of the skills and experience required, as well as the job responsibilities; however, please note that tasks may change from day to day based on business needs.

Experience and Requirements:

  • A diploma or degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or EquivalentCertification/Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience managing and creating content for social media accounts (B2B is an asset)
  • Strong knowledge creating content for LinkedIn specifically is preferred
  • Knowledge of all major social media platforms: specifically LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with experience using social media management tools like Hootesuite or HeyOrca
  • Keeps up to date with emerging trends and has a strong knowledge of the ever-changing climate of social media, with an understanding of public relations and crisis communication
  • Completely bilingual with exceptional written skills in both English and French and comfortable providing accurate translations in French for social media and short copy requirements
  • Ability to use Canva to edit and create bilingual social media graphics working within brand guidelines
  • Ability to seamlessly navigate standard business software such as Office 365: Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, and Sharepoint.
  • Strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation with an understanding of brand tone (experience with corporate social media an asset)
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail to assist with proofreading communications and other marketing materials
  • Strong research skills to collect relevant industry-accurate content
  • Work with the Marketing Assistant & Project Manager to develop efficient processes for the team
  • Work with graphic designers on communicating social media design and campaign ideas


  • Skills that are considered an asset:

  • Experience with a B2B organization
  • Knowledge of the Facility Services or Technical Services Industries
  • Experience working in a corporate setting or with a team
  • Graphic Design, Video Editing, or Photography Skills
