Lawyer - Labour law and OHS

GDI is currently looking for a litigation lawyer specializing in Labour Law
and Occupational Health and Safety to fill a full-time temporary position (18-month
maternity leave replacement, potentially renewable contract) within a young
and dynamic team. The candidate we are looking for has a great sense of
initiative, autonomy, and demonstrates rigour at work. Reporting to the Legal
Services Manager, the selected candidate will:

CORE
RESPONSIBILITIES

Proceed effectively and independently to the various stages of a dispute, from the start of the mandate
through the dispute settlement or pleading before adjudicators, Tribunal
administrative du travail, Commission d’accès à l’information and common law courts
(one to three hearings per week);

Support both the Working
relationships team and the Health and Safety at work team as well as the Managers
with the interpretation and the daily application of the collective agreements
and all regulations pertaining to labour laws and any other field;

Provide legal advice;

·
Negotiate and prepare
various agreements, conventions, contracts and other document types;

·
Prepare and host training
seminars focused on different topics of interest for internal dissemination;

·
Take part in the
negotiation of collective agreements.

EXPERIENCE AND
SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree in Law and a member of the Barreau du Québec;

• Lawyer with 3 to 5 years of experience in labor law;

• Professional experience in the courtroom;

• Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and ability
to work independently;

• Ability to adapt quickly to an ever-changing environment;

• Ability to deal with a heavy workload;

• Integrity, efficiency, team spirit and leadership;

• Excellent knowledge of French and English (spoken and written);

• Capacity to offer support and assistance in the development of the
other members of the team;

• Experience working in a national law firm, an asset.
